Matching dancewear helps students concentrate, keeps anyone from feeling out of place, and lets teachers see alignment and technique clearly.
For every class
- Carry dancewear, shoes and belongings in a dance bag, with your child’s name on the bag and everything in it.
- Keep dancewear in good repair and wash it regularly.
- No watches or jewelry in class.
- Never wear dance shoes outside.
- Hair tightly secured and away from the face. A neat bun is preferred.
- Boys 10 and older must wear a dance belt. Deodorant is required for students 10 and older.
Ballet leotard colors
Each ballet level wears its own leotard color. Dancers can wear the same color for their matching pointe class.

By class
Preschool
Girls: any style leotard, tights in any color (usually pink), pink ballet shoes and tap shoes in any color. Intro to Dance students need caramel tap shoes.
Boys: a fitted T-shirt in any color, basketball or soccer shorts or sweatpants, black ballet and tap shoes.
Ballet
Girls: the leotard color for your level, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Elementary levels usually wear leather ballet shoes; Intermediate and Advanced usually wear canvas.
Boys: a fitted athletic shirt or T-shirt, jazz pants, men’s ballet tights or basketball shorts, and black ballet shoes.
Jazz
Girls: any style of dancewear, such as a leotard and tights or bootie shorts and a top. Caramel slip-on jazz shoes or dance paws.
Boys: a fitted T-shirt or athletic shirt, jazz pants or basketball/soccer shorts, caramel slip-on jazz shoes or dance paws.
Tap
Clothing: any style of dancewear for girls; a fitted shirt with jazz pants or athletic shorts for boys.
Shoes: Petite, caramel Mary Janes. Junior, caramel lace-up or slip-on. Intermediate and Advanced, black lace-up or slip-on. Boys wear black lace-up or slip-on.
Contemporary
Any style of dancewear for girls; a fitted shirt with jazz pants or athletic shorts for boys. Dance paws for everyone.
Hip hop and fusion
Any dancewear or athletic wear; loose and baggy is fine here. Sneakers or boots made for dance.
Performance Team attire
For Company Ballet, girls wear their purple company leotard, pink tights and ballet shoes with hair in a bun; boys wear company attire with tights or pants and black ballet shoes. For Company Technique, girls may wear a black or purple dance top, leotard, leggings or bootie shorts, and boys wear solid black dancewear. No baggy or street clothing at team classes and rehearsals.
