Classes Offered

Dancers Inc. is committed to providing high-quality dance classes to enhance the overall development of the child. We provide a safe and child-centered environment to encourage our students to explore dance with qualified, nurturing teachers.

Ballet

A classical dance form characterized by grace, precision of movement and elaborate formal gestures and poses. It is the basis for all dorms of dance. It is highly structured and is set up in many levels so as to give each age and skill level the proper attention.

Contemporary

This class is a more “free form” style of dance developed from a mix of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern styles. Some technical ability is required therefore a student must have at least 3 years of ballet and jazz to enroll.

Tap

This class is designed to teach the student rhythms and rhythm variations. Special shoes with metal taps are worn to strike the floor and create specific sounds. Music theory is also taught to give the dancer a better understanding of music and how to count.

Hip-Hop

This class is a type of “street dance” that has developed many of it’s own sub styles. It is a more “free” form of dance, usually set to hip hop or popular music. Though there is certain terminology, very little dance experience is required to begin hip hop. You will see this type of dance performed a lot in TV shows and movies.

Jazz

This class is highly influenced by ballet and as a result, has a strong technical base. It is structured movement put to more popular music. Students are encouraged to take ballet in conjunction with jazz to better understand the movement.

Pointe

This class is a part of classical ballet, in which a a dancer supports all the body weight on the tips of fully extended legs and feet. Special shoes are required. A student must have several years of ballet training, graduate from pre-pointe and pass a pointe test to enroll in this class. Students do not typically go on pointe until 11 or 12 years old because of developing bones in the foot and ankle.

Acro

This class is designed to incorporate tumbling with dance. It is much like the floor-work seen in gymnastics but without any apparatus. Dancers are taught tumbling, strength, balance and flexibility.

Rhythm & Rhyme

A combination ballet & tap class designed for 3 and 4 year olds with little to no previous dance experience

Intro to Dance

A combination ballet & tap class designed for 5-6 year olds with little to no previous dance experience.
